Invite-only groups of authors who keep each other honest — and, the bet goes, grow each other's readership by recommending books to the lists they each own.
Writing is lonely, and the open internet is loud. Circles are the middle path: small, private groups of authors who know each other’s work — a place to stay accountable, and to grow together.
There’s no public switch and no lock icon to remember — invite-only is how circles work. The only door is an invitation, which arrives as a golden card and waits on your circles deck until you accept or decline. Owners hand off or delete a circle; they never abandon it.
Here’s the idea Kindred Quill is built on: authors who write for the same readers do better recommending each other than competing for scraps of attention. A circle is where you team up with authors your readers already love and point your readers to each other — to the lists you each own. A reader who trusts one of you is ready to trust the next, and every reader who follows a recommendation is a reader you keep.
It’s not list-swapping — you never hand over your subscribers, and no one hands over theirs. You recommend; readers choose. This is the part we’re still proving, and early access is us forming the first circles to find out whether the bet holds.
Between the growth, a circle is just a good room to be in. Discussion boards with comment threads, small appreciations, and @mentions that ring the person you name. Set a recurring check-in — “What did you get done this week?” — and Kindred Quill asks the circle on a schedule; answers collect as cards you can edit in place. Accountability becomes a rhythm, not a chore.
